I became a parent governor in 2013. I wanted to take a more active role in how Balgowan is run and managed, and apply the skills that I use professionally to help the school. I’m committed to openness and transparency, and to facilitating communication between the Governing Body and the school community – including pupils, teachers and parents.
I believe passionately in the value of education and in ensuring that children of all abilities and backgrounds are given opportunities and support to reach their full potential. I want to help make Balgowan an inspiring place to learn and teach, and to ensure that it not only promotes academic excellence, but also fosters the development of well-rounded, creative and thoughtful children.
I work as a professional economist, analysing the costs and benefits of environmental policies for governments and the private sector. Some of my work involves giving expert testimony in litigation, which requires careful scrutiny of competing economic arguments and analyses. I also specialise in helping organisations make decisions in the face of changing government policy.
I studied both Chemistry and Philosophy as an undergraduate in America, and have a master’s degree in History and Philosophy of Science from Cambridge University, and a master’s degree in Economics from University College London.
My three children are in Reception, Year 3 and Year 4.
