Farewell and Welcome

Sadly, four members of staff will be leaving Balgowan at the end of the summer term. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their hard work, great enthusiasm and dedication to the school. They will be greatly missed by staff and the school community –

Mrs Head, Inclusion Leader will be taking early retirement at the end of term to pursue other interests. She has undertaken the role extremely professionally over the last three years, ensuring children with additional needs are well supported.

Miss Williams, PE and Extended Schools Leader, has been appointed to a primary school very near where she lives in Wimbledon. She has taught Year 4 and Year 6 classes during her six years at Balgowan and has successfully raised the profile of PE and extended school opportunities.

Miss Matthews, who has been at Balgowan for 14 years teaching for most of that time in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), has been appointed to teach in the EYFS at Bromley High School for Girls. She has transformed the organisation of the EYFS at Balgowan during the last seven years. Mrs Palmer, who has been Foundation Stage Leader previously at two Bromley schools prior to joining the staff at Balgowan five years ago, will be the EYFS Phase Leader next academic year.

Mr Hill, who has taught in Year 3 since 2011 and currently in Year 2 is relocating to West London with his family where he will be teaching music in a special needs primary and secondary school from next year.

We would like to welcome the following teachers to our school in September:

Our new Inclusion Leader is Miss Hayley Andrews, who is an inclusion leader in a Lewisham primary school. She will be in school later this term to liaise with Mrs Head.
