Jamie Oliver’s Guinness World Record

Balgowan has achieved the Bronze Award for Healthy Schools London. This recognises the commitment that everyone, including the children, staff and the governors, have to ensuring the continued well-being and healthy development of our children.

We are working closely with our caterers, Harrison’s, to ensure that a well balanced lunchtime menu is offered to all children; a particularly challenging task with free schools meals being offered to all of Reception and KS1pupils from September 2014.

Part of our work has also included being involved in Jamie Oliver’s Guinness World Record for the largest live cooking event with nearly 250,000 children participating world-wide in producing their own ‘Rainbow Wrap’! It was a wonderfully inspiring afternoon and showed how even the youngest children can become involved in improving their eating choices.

Our next step is to achieve the Silver Award within the next 18 months; more will follow as we work together to identify our target areas and implement a plan.
