Eco Schools Silver
On 12th May 2013 we successfully achieved the Eco Schools Silver Award. The Silver Award criteria focused on strengthening pupil leadership and whole school involvement while the school started to work on at least one of the Eco-Schools topics in depth. There is evidence that the school grounds have been improved, recycling and waste are being audited and improvement plans are in place, energy is monitored regularly and involvement in the EDF Energy ‘The Pod’ Switch-off Fortnight has raised awareness of reducing energy consumption by turning off lights and equipment when not in use.
We have also achieved RHS Campaign for School Gardening Level 1 and Level 2 Benchmarking Certificates, EDF Energy The Pod Bronze medal (2012) and Silver Medal (2013) for work on Energy by participation in Switch-Off fortnight, EDF Energy the Pod Bronze medal for work on Biodiversity on Will the Worm.
Assessors from Eco Schools will visit our school on Tuesday 21st January 2014 to decide whether we can achieve Green Flag Status – exciting news.
